Legal Information

Last updated: 5 November 2026

This page sets out the legal and statutory information that we must publish about the company that operates this website, together with the principal rules that apply when you visit it. It is written in plain English so that it can be read without legal training, and it forms part of the terms on which the site is made available to you. Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy and our Terms and Conditions, each of which is referred to in more detail below.

1. Who we are, and the role of the website operator

This website is published under the name updatifyx. updatifyx is an information and learning resource devoted to audiovisual production. Its subject matter includes broadcast studio design, camera control systems, professional lighting arrangements, sound engineering, and the practical workflows that television networks, production companies and live event teams rely on every day.

The person legally responsible for the site — the operator, publisher and, for data protection purposes, the data controller — is Adlib Audio Limited. In this notice, "we", "us" and "our" mean Adlib Audio Limited, and "you" means anyone who accesses or uses the site. The company also trades under the name updatifyx and under other trading names used elsewhere in its business.

The operator's role is straightforward: we decide what is published here, we maintain it, and we are accountable for the way it is run. We are not acting as an agent for any other business when publishing this site, and nothing published here should be read as a promise made on behalf of a third party.

2. Legal form, registration details and tax identifiers

Adlib Audio Limited is a private company limited by shares. It is incorporated in, and registered in, England and Wales. Registration means that the company's existence and its key details are recorded on the public register kept by the registrar of companies for England and Wales, Companies House, and that those details may be inspected by anyone on payment of the applicable statutory fee.

2.1 Registration and tax identifiers

  • Registered company name: Adlib Audio Limited
  • Company registration number: 03555097
  • Place of registration: England and Wales, with the register maintained by Companies House
  • VAT registration number: 477222243
  • Legal form: private limited company, limited by shares

The identifiers listed above are the only registration and tax identifiers that apply to us in the United Kingdom. Identifiers used in other countries, such as a SIRET number in France or a NIF in Spain, have no equivalent here and do not apply to this company. Because we are registered for VAT, our VAT number must appear on the invoices and receipts we issue, and we publish it here so that customers and suppliers can confirm who they are dealing with.

2.2 Responsible representatives

The company acts through its board of directors, who are its responsible representatives for the purposes of day-to-day management and for correspondence about this site. The names of the current directors, together with the company's filing history, share capital and other statutory particulars, are available from the public record held by Companies House. We do not publish individual directors' personal details on this website, and correspondence about the site should be addressed to the company rather than to any individual.

2.3 Licences and regulated activity

Publishing an information website of this kind does not require a licence in the United Kingdom. We do not carry on any regulated activity that would require authorisation from a body such as the Financial Conduct Authority, and nothing on this site is intended as regulated financial, legal, medical or tax advice. Where our wider business handles music, filmed content or live performance, it does so under the appropriate licences and permissions, including licences for the use of copyright music where relevant.

3. Statutory disclosures at a glance

The summary below uses the same wording as the disclosure that appears in the footer of every page of this site.

Company Name: Adlib Audio Limited | Trading Name: updatifyx | Company Registration Number: 03555097 | Place of Registration: England and Wales | VAT Number: 477222243 | Registered Office: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG | Email: info@nfts.co.uk | Phone: 01494 671234

Company law in the United Kingdom requires a company's registered name, its registration number, the place in which it is registered and the address of its registered office to be disclosed on its websites and on its business correspondence, so that anyone dealing with the business knows exactly which legal entity they are dealing with. We also publish our VAT registration number, because VAT-registered businesses are expected to make it easy for customers to identify them for tax purposes.

4. Registered office, trading locations and how to contact us

Our registered office, which is the address recorded on the public register and the address at which formal documents may be served on the company, is: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG.

General correspondence about this website — including questions about this notice, requests relating to your personal data, and reports of content that appears to be inaccurate or out of date — should be sent by email to info@nfts.co.uk or by telephone on 01494 671234. You may also reach us through the contact form on our Contacts page. We aim to acknowledge correspondence within five working days and to give a substantive reply within twenty working days. Complex data protection requests may take longer, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Please use these channels rather than social media messages or informal routes, because it helps us keep a reliable record of what has been asked and of what we have done in response.

5. Purpose, scope and intended audience of this website

This website exists to explain how professional audiovisual production is planned, designed and delivered. It is an educational and informational resource for people who work in television, broadcast, live events and related technical fields, or who are training to do so. Typical readers include broadcast engineers, studio managers, lighting and sound technicians, production managers, systems integrators, and students on media or technical courses.

The site is aimed at a professional and semi-professional audience in the United Kingdom, although it can be read from anywhere. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly design it to appeal to, or to collect personal data from, children under the age of thirteen. The content is general in nature: it describes approaches, equipment categories and workflows, and it is no substitute for a site-specific engineering assessment, a risk assessment, or the advice of a qualified professional who has seen the installation, studio or venue in question.

We may add to, reorganise or remove material at any time, and we may change the technical scope of the site as the subject area develops. Nothing published here is an offer to supply goods or services unless we say so expressly in writing.

5.1 Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including readers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or text-to-speech tools. We aim to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for the content we control. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us by email at info@nfts.co.uk and describe the page and the difficulty, so that we can look into it and, where possible, provide the information in another format.

6. Access to the website and acceptable use

You may browse the site free of charge and without registering. We cannot promise that every page will always be available. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict access to the whole site or to part of it for maintenance, for security reasons, or because a third-party service that we rely on is unavailable. We may also change or remove content without notice.

When you use the site you agree to do so lawfully and considerately, and to comply with the rules in this section.

6.1 Conduct we do not permit

  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the site, to its servers, or to any connected system or network, which may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
  • Scraping, harvesting or systematically extracting content, data or contact information from the site, whether by hand or by automated means.
  • Introducing viruses, malware, ransomware or any other harmful code, or interfering with the proper operation of the site.
  • Mounting denial-of-service attacks, or using automated tools in a way that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
  • Using the site to send unsolicited marketing, chain messages or bulk communications of any kind.
  • Copying, reproducing or republishing substantial parts of the site other than as permitted in section 7 below.
  • Removing, obscuring or altering any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice.
  • Impersonating us, our staff or another user, or misrepresenting your connection with any person or organisation.

6.2 Material that you send to us

If you send us a message through the contact form, or offer comments, corrections or suggestions, you confirm that the material is your own or that you have the right to share it, and that it is not unlawful, defamatory or confidential. You grant us permission to use, store and adapt that material for the purpose of responding to you and improving the site. Please do not send us trade secrets or confidential technical data through the contact form.

7. Ownership and permitted use of content, trade marks and other intellectual property

All content on this site — including text, explanations, diagrams, photographs, illustrations, page layouts, source code, and the selection and arrangement of the material — is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, by database right, and where applicable by trade mark law under the Trade Marks Act 1994.

7.1 What you may do

  • Read, view and browse the content for your own personal, educational or internal professional purposes.
  • Print or save a single copy of an individual page for your own reference or for internal training, provided that all notices remain intact.
  • Quote short extracts in teaching materials, reports or articles, provided that the source is clearly attributed to updatifyx and the quotation is fair and proportionate.
  • Link to any page of the site from your own website or internal systems, provided that the link is honest and does not suggest that we endorse you or your products.

7.2 What you may not do

  • Republish, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the content, or use it as part of a commercial product or paid training programme, without our written permission.
  • Create a mirror, cache or substitute version of the site, or republish large parts of it, on any platform.
  • Use our name, logos or trade marks, or those of any third party featured on the site, in metatags, hidden text, advertising or product names in a way that could confuse readers about who is behind a product or service.
  • Remove or obscure any authorship, copyright or trade mark notice.

Product names, manufacturer names and brand names referred to on the site belong to their respective owners. We mention them for identification and explanation only, and their appearance does not imply any endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.

8. Accuracy, availability and limits of our liability

We take reasonable care to ensure that the technical information on this site is accurate and useful when it is published. Even so, audiovisual technology changes quickly: firmware is updated, specifications are revised, and standards are superseded. Content may therefore become out of date, and it may not reflect a particular manufacturer's current documentation. You should always check the current manuals, safety notices and statutory requirements before acting on anything you read here.

8.1 Availability

The site is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, secure or free from errors, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant that the site or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.

8.2 Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of data or business interruption arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this site or any content on it, whether the claim is based on contract, negligence, statute or any other ground, and whether or not the possibility of such loss was known to us.

Nothing in this notice limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that are not affected by anything on this page. If you are using the site in the course of a business, you are responsible for your own commercial and operational decisions, and you should verify any technical information independently before relying on it in a live production, installation or studio environment.

9. External links and third-party content

This site may refer or link to websites, documents or services run by other organisations, and may describe or refer to third-party products and platforms. Those resources are not under our control. We do not operate them, we do not review them continuously, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, security, availability or privacy practices.

A reference or link is provided for convenience and explanation only; it does not mean that we endorse the organisation, its products or its services. When you follow a link away from this site, the terms and policies of the destination site apply, and our terms, including our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, no longer govern what happens there. We recommend that you read the terms and privacy notices of any site you visit.

10. Data protection, cookies and electronic communications

We are the data controller for the personal data processed in connection with this website, for the purposes of the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

In practice, that means we may collect your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your message when you complete the contact form, together with technical information such as your internet protocol address, browser type, device type and the pages you requested, which is created automatically when you browse the site and which is recorded in our server logs. We use this information to reply to your enquiry, to keep the site secure and working properly, to understand which subjects are useful to readers, and to comply with our legal obligations.

Our lawful bases for processing are your consent where you have given it, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the site and in answering enquiries, and the performance of a contract where you have asked us to do something specific. We keep enquiry records only for as long as they are needed for the purpose for which they were collected, and we apply retention periods that reflect the nature of the enquiry.

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask for data to be erased or for processing to be restricted, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to receive data you provided in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@nfts.co.uk or on 01494 671234.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which is the supervisory authority for data protection in the United Kingdom.

10.1 Cookies and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations

This site uses cookies and similar technologies. We comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, which means that we place strictly necessary cookies because they are required for the site to work and to remember your cookie choices, and we ask for your consent before placing analytics or other non-essential cookies. You will see a cookie banner when you first visit, and you can accept, refuse or change your choices at any time. You can also block or delete cookies using your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work as intended. Full detail is set out in our Cookie Policy.

10.2 Electronic marketing

We do not send marketing emails to people who have not asked to hear from us, and we comply with the requirements of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations when we send electronic communications. Our Privacy Policy explains how you can unsubscribe or change your preferences.

11. Purchases, payment and refunds

Most of the material on this site is free to read, and no payment is needed to browse it. Where we offer paid training, events, download content or professional services, additional terms apply. Those are set out in our Terms and Conditions and in our Payment and Refund Policy, and they should be read together with this notice. Where those documents differ from anything said on this page in relation to a paid supply, the supply terms take priority.

Prices, where quoted, are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate unless stated otherwise. Our VAT registration number is shown in section 2 above and in the footer of every page.

Consumers in the United Kingdom generally have a right to cancel a distance contract within fourteen days of entering into it, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. That right does not apply to all purchases: for example, it does not apply to digital content once downloading or streaming has begun with your consent and acknowledgement, or to services that have been fully performed with your agreement. Goods and services must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and rights under that Act are not affected by anything in this notice.

12. Complaints, consumer rights and dispute resolution

If something has gone wrong, please tell us first. Contact info@nfts.co.uk or call 01494 671234 with a short description of the problem, the date it occurred and any reference numbers, and we will investigate and respond within a reasonable time.

Consumers who are not satisfied with our final response may seek free, independent advice from Citizens Advice, their local authority trading standards service, or another consumer advice body. We are not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme and we are not obliged to participate in one, because the statutory obligation to offer ADR does not apply to us. If that position changes, we will update this page. Nothing in this section prevents you from issuing proceedings in court.

13. Applicable law and jurisdiction

This notice, its subject matter and its formation, and any non-contractual dispute or claim arising out of it, are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you are a business user, you and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own part of the United Kingdom as well as in England and Wales, and the mandatory consumer protections of your home jurisdiction continue to apply. If you are a consumer resident outside the United Kingdom, nothing in this notice deprives you of the protection afforded by provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.

14. Contact route, changes to this notice and review date

We review this notice regularly and will update it when our practices, our company details or the relevant law change. When we make a material change we will publish the revised version on this page and change the date shown at the top, and the new version will apply from the moment it is published. Continued use of the site after that point indicates acceptance of the revised notice.

If anything here is unclear, or if you would like further information about the company or about this site, please contact us at info@nfts.co.uk, on 01494 671234, or by post to Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG. We would rather answer a question early than leave you uncertain about who you are dealing with.
